At Learning Yard, we’re always seeking new ways to help educate kids around the world. As part of this effort, we look for ways to reach out to the community and give back to less privileged kids so that they can obtain the best education possible, even if they can’t afford it themselves.
This year, we chose to sponsor three kids in rural China. These kids are academic high-achievers, meaning they are in the top 5% of their class, but come from impoverished families who make less than 30k RMB / year and who are unable to pay school tuition fees going forward. If you are unfamiliar with the Chinese education system, students must pay tuition to attend public schools even if they are financially burdened.
We are proud to announce that we have sponsored the three kids below for the entirety of their high school educations at Baihe No. 1 High School. Baihe No. 1 High School is the most elite high school in Baihe County and attracts students from surrounding villages.
Huan is a freshman. She wants to obtain an education not only to acquire academic knowledge but also to learn how to be a leader. She enjoys playing badminton, running, singing, and writing.
Tao is a freshman. He wants to obtain an education to gain knowledge and to ultimately improve his family and village’s economic situation. His biggest dream is buy a house for his parents someday so they can live comfortably. He enjoys reading, playing badminton, and listening to music.
CunShen is a freshman. She hopes that through education, she can obtain a rewarding job. She hopes to give back to her village and school for providing her the opportunity for this education. CunShen enjoys running and listening to music.
As we continue to grow, we look forward to pursuing more outreach opportunities in the future. If you’ve got an opportunity that you think we should know about, please use the contact us page or reach out on facebook or twitter and tell us about it!
